A Warm Farewell
For the past three years, we have been proud to serve as the managers and programmers of the Geauga Theater in Chardon. During that time, we accomplished a lot: we curated a diverse range of artistic programming, built a network of professional and amateur artists, established a reputation as a destination for entertainment, developed professional technical capabilities, and maintained a polished aesthetic.
However, as individuals who first and foremost want to write and perform, we have realized that managing a venue requires more time and energy than we’d like to devote. The path we followed did not lead us to where we intended or hoped. This realization prompted some tough internal discussions. With heavy hearts, we have decided to not only exit the Geauga Theater, but to also cease operations as a nonprofit organization, effective Jan. 1, 2024.
IN GEAUGA COUNTY
Geauga Theater is an intimate live music, theater, and comedy venue with 292 seats featuring local and national performers. This Art Deco treasure, built in 1939, was formerly known as the Geauga Cinema and operated as a movie theater for nearly 60 years. Now, under the direction of Thrive Performing and Visual Arts, the Geauga Theater has new life. Nestled on Chardon's quaint, walkable Square, the Geauga Theater is an ideal destination for date nights and evenings out with friends and family.
